Already have a website? Using iZotz as an add-on.

ost people these days already have some kind of website. Since iZotz lets you build websites, many people might think they don't really have any use for us. But instead of thinking in terms of a website, try thinking about how you might be able to leverage iZotz into your current web presence by creating add-ons using iZotz projects.

Since all iZotz modules can run as stand alone web application as well as being combined together to form complete websites, you can easily create a single purpose web project from an iZotz module template and integrate it into your current website or use it as a stand alone addendum to enhance your web presence.

For example, use the iZotz Newspaper module to put out an online newspaper or magazine that stands separate from your current website. Or use one of the calendar modules to add advanced scheduling applications to an intranet or company website. Or add a photo gallery to your website.

Even more interesting, begin to think about how you might use an iZotz project to temporarily put something on the web. Maybe it's a complex process to use your current webmaster to put out a special page advertising a company picnic, special sale, or community event. Use an iZotz page. It's quick, immediate, and economical. And disposable. No recycling required.

Integrating iZotz into Your Current Website

There are several ways to integrate an iZotz project into your current website.

Create a Standalone Project : if you are creating something that should stand alone...like an online newspaper, special event advertisement, or anything else that you don't really want to integrate into an existing website, then it's easy. Just create the iZotz project, post a link to the project on your current website, and advertise the iZotz URL wherever you can. The only thing you need to integrate is a URL link.
Create a Standalone Project that LOOKS like you current website : If you want the stand alone project to adopt the look and feel of your current website...in other words to have the same graphics, navigation menus etc, then you can do it two ways: find an appearance skin that you can customize by adding your own graphics and make it look like your existing design, or have iZotz create a custom skin that exactly matches your current website appearance. This doesn't cost very much, and then you'll have a custom skin that can be used for ANY additional iZotz projects you might want to build. You could even use it to import your entire website into iZotz if you wanted to change to a new hosting environment.
Create an iZotz Project and Directly Integrate it into your Website : If you have control over the HTML code in your website, or if you can get your webmaster to do this...you can easily integrate an iZotz project directly into your current website. First, build an iZotz project, selecting the PLAIN appearance skin. The PLAIN skin will cause the project to appear on a plain white webpage, with no headers, footers, and other fancy formatting. Then, create an HTML page in your current website that includes an <IFRAME> pointing to the iZotz project URL. The iZotz project will be seamlessly integrated into your current website, inherit the current appearance and navigation menus, and for all intent and purpose appear to run from your current webserver. There are several ways to accomplish this. You can check out the hints and tips article about the technical details for this.

So don't think about iZotz as your "WEBSITE" builder. It can be much more than that. If you already have a website, yet need to put things on the web that your current website can't do, or need temporary pages, or like any of the iZotz modules and want to add them to your web presence...think iZotz ADD-ONS.
