Creating a Custom Administration Page
Making it easier to administrate projects.

here are a number of ways you can administrate your iZotz projects. You can open the My iZotz Administrator at http://myizotz.net, or edit content using DirectEdit, or sometimes administrate modules simply by signing in to the webpage.

If you want to streamline the way you administrate your projects and make things as simple as possible, or if you want to enable certain people to administrate certain modules but not give them access to all the administration tools, or in fact even let them see all those tools...you should consider creating a Custom Administration Page.

Creating a Custom Administration Page

The Custom Administration Page is a project template that lets you pick and choose which projects a user can see and administrate. You can place as many or as few projects as you want on the page, and the end user sees only the ones you choose. You can also place Tools on the page, making it easy to allow select people access to select tools.

Creating a custom administration page is easy...

  1. While in the My iZotz Administrator, click Create New Project.
  2. Select the Custom Administration Page template.
  3. Name your project and click Save.
  4. Close the window, then click your new project in the Project Manager.
  5. Select which projects and tools you want on the page. Drag them from the Available panel to the Custom Admin panel.
  6. If you want to set specific permissions for an item, select it and click the Permissions button.

Set Permissions for the Custom Administration Page

Once created, you'll want to set permissions so that not everyone in the world can access this page.

  1. Click the Permissions tab.
  2. Enable Password Protection and click Save.
  3. Click the Edit button for the View Content panel.
  4. Select which users should be able to see this page.

You can create as many custom administration pages as you want. So if you have a lot of different people who perform different administration tasks in your projects, create one for each administrator, and give them only the projects they're responsible for. This not only makes it much easier for your administrators to do their job, but it makes your projects more secure by keeping idle hands away from projects they shouldn't be near.
